Despite coming from an industry governed by male-dominated norms, she broke the glass ceiling and emerged as a warrior with her entrepreneurial spirit. Under her guidance, her company thrives as a certified SSI unit with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & OHSAS 4500: 2018 qualifications, renowned for cost-effective solutions nationwide and across Asia.
A Scholar Since Childhood
Born into a middle-class Tamil Brahmin family in Chennai, Srividhya’s upbringing was marked by disciplined growth and academic excellence. Her early years were defined by the loss of her mother, a challenging period that propelled her to overcome loneliness and depression. Through the power of self-affirmation and an unyielding spirit, she forged ahead, achieving academic milestones and eventually securing a 100% scholarship for her engineering studies as a merit scholar.
Transforming Constructions
The inception of her entrepreneurial journey coincided with the burgeoning real estate industry in Chennai. Srividhya’s innovative approach in creating templates for low-, mid, and high-rise structures with meticulous adherence to Vastu principles revolutionized the construction domain, earning her recognition and individual projects that showcased her expertise from concept to execution. Despite the absence of a role model in the early days of her engineering career, Srividhya found mentorship in someone who recognized her potential. This support laid the foundation for numerous successful construction projects in Tamil Nadu, establishing her as a profound entrepreneur in the industry.
Obstacles Faced
From facing financial hurdles to rebuilding from scratch, she epitomized resilience. Her journey, marked by setbacks during economic transformations like demonetization and GST implementation, reflected her unrelenting soul and unyielding mindset, turning adversities into opportunities for growth. Transitioning from Chennai to New Delhi, Srividhya embarked on a new chapter, steering her companies towards addressing industry needs. Her vision led to pioneering solutions to tackle the steel waste crisis on construction sites, earning accolades and approvals from prestigious organizations like the Bureau of Indian Standards, IITs, and government bodies.
The tumultuous struggle posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 tested the industry’s resilience. Srividhya’s leadership ensured that safety measures were diligently implemented while completing projects, prioritizing the well-being of her team above all. Today, the company has broadened its horizons by introducing a range of key solutions. These include steel products such as HITECH-Reinforcement Couplers designed to minimize steel wastage and scrap. Additionally, they specialize in manufacturing specialized foundation-supportive bolts and earthquake-preventive products, among others.
Beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, Srividhya indulges in diverse interests, from interior decoration and blogging to mentoring fresh entrepreneurs and playing the Veena, showcasing her multifaceted persona. Her story is an embodiment of triumph over adversity, a testament to grit, and resilience in all forms. When asked for advice that she would like to give to aspiring entrepreneurs, she profoundly said, “Starting a company is a riveting roller coaster of emotions with tremendous highs and at times, difficult lows, but one thing that always helps me through the ups and downs is to connect with some of the greatest minds and create your own entry rather than knocking doors for opportunities.”
